Delivery Delay Analysis of Selective Repeat ARQ in Underwater Acoustic Communications

چکیده
Underwater acoustic communication is deemed as the technique that will be widely used for oceanography, data collection, pollution monitoring, offshore exploration and tactical surveillance applications [1]. However, the characteristics of underwater acoustic channels, such as high bit error rate (BER), large round-trip delay, multipath coherence, as well as the half-duplex property of typical underwater acoustic modems, make the underwater acoustic link very poor [2].

Logical Link Control and Channel Scheduling for Multichannel Underwater Sensor Networks
With recent developments in terrestrial wireless networks and advances in acoustic communications, multichannel technologies have been proposed to be used in underwater networks to increase data transmission rate over bandwidth-limited underwater channels. Due to high bit error rates in underwater networks, an efficient error control technique is critical in the logical link control (LLC) subla...

Medium Access Control (MAC) is an essential component of protocol stacks in Underwater Acoustic Networks (UANs). Numerous dedicated UAN MAC protocols have been proposed and studied via analysis and simulations. However, limited work has been done on evaluating these protocols in real ocean environments. To achieve a better understanding on how MAC protocols perform in real world UANs, we implem...

متن کاملEnergy-conserving Selective Repeat ARQ Protocols for Wireless Data Networks
Mobile communications implies reliance on a self-contained, portable power source, error-prone fading radio channels and subsequent need for acknowledgments. We propose two energy-conserving variants of the Selective Repeat ARQ protocol, which reduce the number of acknowledgments sent by the mobile node. The protocols are compared to previously described energy-conserving Go-Back-N ARQ protocol...
